The rainís too hard. The streams too high.
Too many people barely getting by.
Some havenít yet paid for last winterís heat.
Labor Day is done and the ends donít meet.

Wise men say temperatureís rising
And thereís more water in the air
And it comes down with a vengeance
Which no memory can compare

We are low in expectations
But a bodyís belt can only go so tight
Till it interferes with the circulation
And your will and all your might
Dawn into day, day into night

The sunís too bright, the light too white
Some days I canít sleep at night
Changes come too fast and leave you slow
Reason overcome by the show

So we donít talk about the weather
Quite as often as we did
Conversations go to children
With voices low or our fears well hid

We donít talk about the weather like we did

Being low in expectations
But a bodyís belt can only go so tight
Till it interferes with the circulation
And your will and all your might
Dawn into day, day into night

We build our hopes up along the way
Day into night, night into day

We build our hopes along the way
Day into night, night into day
Day into night, night into day

Some songs grab you right away, and some don't. I think this was one of the last songs on the album that I took the time to sit down with and really get to know and appreciate. Maybe it was my loyalty to Lightning's Blues, a clever weather inspired song I've always loved, I didn't want to let another weather related song in. Now I see that the two may use weather to relate to the human condition, but they are quite different. Where as L.B. is just trying to get close enough to see into the face of love, N.I.D. is much darker. I think that's what surprised me the most, the closer I listened to the words, the more despair I heard. There isn't a happy line anywhere in the song, could have put this one on Land Of The Bottom Line. Anyway, like the song more with every listen, it's working it's way up in my list of songs on this album.

Well 5&7, it looks like you and I are in a small club these days, with just a few others here. Thanks for posting.

This is one where the music really fits the mood. I love the violin part especially. There is a lot of anxiety in these lyrics, and concern about the times we live in. Reminds me a little of "Trouble And Care" from a few years ago. No, not a happy song at all. More of a little wake up call.

I hear you T.R., I"m guessing all the 'views' that each topic get are not real people, or there are a lot of people that aren't inspired to write anything. Oh, well. I'm pressing forward on the song-of the-week (month) reviews, we've made it all this way through JG's collection of work, can't stop now...

Still here. Still enjoy the song postings, etc...

Thanks for taking the time.
